Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (often abbreviated to just ‘PRP’) is an exciting, cutting-edge treatment that harnesses the human body’s own healing powers to rejuvenate, and bring a natural glow, to your skin and hair.

Often referred to as the ‘vampire facial’, PRP therapy utilises the healing powers already contained within your own blood. During your treatment, a small extraction will be made, before being placed in our Cellenis centrifuge machine. This machine then spins the blood, separating its PRP elements – the compounds and nutrients which promote cell production, and which are routinely used in other schools of medicine to promote healing. These elements are then re-injected into the treatment area, promoting tissue healing and the production of new collagen.

The result is the rejuvenation of your skin and hair, and a natural glow that only the human body knows best how to provide. Collagen and stem cell production is boosted, targeting fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin tones, and giving your skin a youthful appearance. If injected into the scalp area, PRP therapy’s promotion of new cell growth offers an effective, medicine-free remedy for hair loss; especially male- and female-pattern hair loss.

At Skin Solutions Clinic, our expertise and experience means that you can expect fantastic results. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a minimally invasive treatment, requiring no downtime. If you’re interested in a natural method of increasing hair growth or lending a youthful glow to your skin, why not book a consultation today to find out more about PRP therapy.

FAQs

  • How long do the results last?

Effects usually last between12-18 months but can sometimes last even longer. At Skin Solutions Clinic we recommend maintenance treatments at 3-6 monthly intervals to improve the longevity of the results.

  • Are there any side effects?

There may be some minor swelling, redness and bruising at the injection site but this should quickly subside.

  • Does it hurt?

Discomfort is very minor. However, if necessary, we are able to apply a topic anaesthetic, which will numb the area to be injected.

  • Is it safe?

PRP therapy uses your body’s own natural materials rather than synthetic substances and is, therefore, a completely safe treatment. In fact, it is routinely used in other areas of medicine, such as neurosurgery, dentistry, and urology.
